Matt Cutts was asked about PageRank in the porn or adult industry being so low. In here the golden nugget is how he shares it’s not just popularity it’s also about the reputation of the link.

Very rarely do websites in the adult industry get write ups in the New York Times, CNN, ect… So it is harder for them to gain a higher PageRank.
